Seven more dengue deaths were recorded in Bangladesh in the 24 hours covered by the health directorate’s 25 October bulletin, taking the year’s reported toll to 384.
Hospitals admitted another 2,249 patients with dengue during the period. The cumulative number admitted this year rose to 123,948.
The Directorate General of Health Services also reported that 117,400 patients had been discharged over the year. Admissions were recorded across the country, showing that the pressure extended beyond the capital.
The daily admission figure was reported as the highest so far this year. It represents people entering the reporting hospitals, rather than a count of every new infection in Bangladesh.
The latest bulletin adds to an already substantial hospital burden. Its annual totals are cumulative and should not be confused with the number of patients currently receiving treatment.
