Intern doctors at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital withdrew their work stoppage on Thursday, 22 October, following talks with the hospital director. They said they would return to duty on Friday morning, 23 October.

The announcement came at about 3:30pm after nearly five hours of discussion, hospital spokesperson Sheikh Shamim Ahmed told Prothom Alo. The meeting was held with director Brigadier General PKM Masud-ul-Islam and other senior officials.

In a statement, the Intern Doctors Society said the decision followed assurances that their demands would be addressed. The doctors said they were placing their trust in the administration but wanted prompt, visible implementation of the commitments.

The action began on 21 October over shortages of medicines and equipment, security concerns and unrestricted access by patients’ relatives. Demands also included stronger Ansar presence in wards and reopening the casualty department.

Around 250 interns had stayed away from work, increasing pressure on other staff. Medical officers and senior doctors were assigned to maintain ward services and follow up patients during the stoppage.
