Seven more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8am on Friday, 23 October, the Directorate General of Health Services reported. All seven deaths were classified as suspected measles deaths; the bulletin recorded no new laboratory-confirmed measles death.

The combined total of suspected and confirmed deaths since 15 March reached 1,214. That figure comprises 1,110 suspected deaths and 104 confirmed deaths. Sylhet division accounted for three of the seven deaths newly reported on Friday, the largest share recorded by any division.

The same reporting period brought 1,110 suspected measles cases and 25 laboratory-confirmed cases. The cumulative figures reached 218,870 suspected cases and 23,273 confirmed infections. Since 15 March, hospitals have admitted 194,633 patients with suspected measles; 186,798 have recovered and been discharged, according to the directorate.

The distinction between suspected and confirmed cases is central to interpreting the outbreak figures. The combined death total describes both categories reported by the authorities; it does not mean all 1,214 deaths have been confirmed by laboratory testing. Friday’s seven additional deaths increase the suspected category, while the confirmed death total remains at 104.
