Bangladesh’s Fortis FC recovered from a goal down to beat Tajikistan’s Regar-TadAZ 3–1 in their final AFC Challenge League group match on 23 October. The victory ended their campaign in Kuwait on a positive note, although both clubs were eliminated.
Sherzod Makhamadiev put the Tajik side ahead in the 12th minute at Mohammad Al-Hamad Stadium. Five minutes later, Regar-TadAZ were reduced to ten players when Severin Takam was sent off for a foul on Noriki Akada outside the penalty area.
Fortis remained behind at half-time but turned the match around with two goals in four minutes. Rafayel Tudu equalised with a backheel in the 67th minute after Pa Omar set him up. Shian Kawasaki then volleyed Fortis ahead following Ananta Tamang’s header.
Shuki Itofusa added the third in the 88th minute, again from a move involving Pa Omar, to secure the result.
Fortis finished with three points from three Group C matches. Earlier defeats by Kuwait’s Al-Qadsia, 3–0, and India’s FC Goa, 2–1, had ended their hopes of reaching the knockout stage. Friday’s win was their first of the tournament.
