Durga Puja concluded across Bangladesh on 21 October as Hindu devotees took idols to rivers and the sea for immersion on Bijoya Dashami.
In Dhaka, a procession left Dhakeshwari National Temple in the afternoon and travelled towards Wiseghat on the Buriganga. Devotees accompanied the idols with drums, conch shells and religious songs before the final ceremonies.
Large gatherings also took place at Patenga in Chattogram and at Cox's Bazar, while immersion ceremonies were held in other cities and districts. Police and other law-enforcement personnel provided security at major sites and managed traffic around the processions.
The day began with Dashami worship and the symbolic immersion of the goddess's reflection. Married Hindu women then took part in Sindur Khela, exchanging vermilion and greetings before the idols were carried away.
In Hindu tradition, the immersion marks Durga's departure after her annual visit, with devotees looking forward to her return the following year. The conclusion of the festival brought together worshippers, relatives and visitors at temples and waterfronts across the country.
