Border Guard Bangladesh plans to establish 18 base camps for Durga Puja security, covering about 1,800 festival venues within eight kilometres of the border.

BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui outlined the arrangements on 15 October after visiting Ramna Kali Temple in Dhaka. He said personnel had contacted local Puja committees and were patrolling the areas concerned.

The temporary camps are intended for locations some distance from existing border outposts. The force will also take responsibility for venues close to its headquarters, battalion headquarters and regional headquarters.

A control room at BGB headquarters will operate around the clock during the festival. The deployment forms part of the wider allocation of responsibilities among security agencies under Home Ministry instructions.
