From 18 October 2026 — Daily Brief

Three more patients died with measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh in the latest daily update published on Saturday, the Directorate General of Health Services said. No additional death from confirmed measles was recorded in that reporting period.

Since 15 March, the directorate has counted 1,085 deaths associated with measles-like symptoms and 104 deaths from confirmed measles. Together these categories total 1,189, but they should not all be described as laboratory-confirmed measles deaths.

The daily update recorded 950 patients with suspected measles and 85 confirmed infections. Cumulative figures since 15 March stood at 211,990 suspected cases and 23,057 confirmed cases.

The directorate also reported that 188,452 patients with measles-like symptoms had been admitted to hospital during that period, of whom 180,848 had recovered and been discharged.

The separate suspected and confirmed categories are central to interpreting the outbreak figures. The reported case counts should not be added together as though they necessarily represent separate groups of people.
