Reform presents alternative economic plan before the Budget

Reform UK unveiled an alternative economic programme on Monday, two days before Chancellor John Healey is due to deliver the government’s Budget.
The party described its package as 64 measures intended to support growth. Treasury spokesperson Robert Jenrick presented it alongside leader Nigel Farage.
One proposal would remove income tax on overtime for people earning less than £75,000. The party says its programme would also give smaller businesses more room to expand and reduce energy costs for British industry.
Reform argues that reduced regulation and lower costs would encourage investment and employment. Those are the party’s claims about the effects of its programme, rather than outcomes established by the announcement.
The proposals are not changes to current tax law or government spending. Implementing them would require the relevant decisions and legislation, alongside a funding plan.
The launch places a competing set of economic priorities before voters as ministers prepare to explain their own choices on taxation, services and defence.
