Bangladesh Bank temporarily took its public website offline on 22 October as a precaution against possible cyberattacks. The central bank said access would be restored after necessary security measures were completed.

Spokesperson and Executive Director Arief Hossain Khan said the IT department was identifying and addressing vulnerabilities. He expressed hope that the website would return soon, but no definite restoration time was announced. Visitors saw a maintenance message, and the site remained inaccessible during the evening.

The closure came amid international warnings over software vulnerabilities. AFP reported two security flaws in PHP, a programming language widely used for websites, and precautionary restrictions at organisations in several countries. Bangladesh Bank's statement described a preventive shutdown; it did not announce that an intrusion had occurred.
