Gold prices in Bangladesh fell again on 23 October, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association reducing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,158 per bhori to Tk224,182, including VAT. The revised rates took effect at 10am.

BAJUS said the adjustment followed a fall in the local price of pure gold. It set 21-carat gold at Tk214,093 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk183,883 and gold sold under the traditional category at Tk150,232. One bhori equals 11.664 grammes.

The latest reduction followed a Tk1,691 cut on 22 October, when the 22-carat rate became Tk226,340. Together with the reduction announced on 13 October, the three cuts have lowered the price of 22-carat gold by Tk7,115 per bhori.

Silver prices also declined. The 22-carat rate fell by Tk175 to Tk3,849 per bhori; 21-carat silver was set at Tk3,674, 18-carat at Tk3,149 and the traditional category at Tk2,391.

The announced gold rates include VAT, so jewellers must not collect it again separately. Jewellery-making charges depend on the design. BAJUS said the revised prices would apply across jewellery businesses until a further announcement.
