A Tk592 crore proposal to drill two new wells at the Titas Gas Field is scheduled to go before the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council on 25 October. An official familiar with the project disclosed the plan to BSS on 22 October.

The proposed Titas-32 and Titas-33 appraisal and development wells are expected to add about 30 million cubic feet of gas a day. Petrobangla Chairman Abdul Mannan said the additional domestic output would help reduce reliance on imported liquefied natural gas.

Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited would implement the project, with a proposed timetable running from October 2026 to September 2029. Government financing would provide Tk414.40 crore and the company's own funds Tk177.60 crore.

The work would include drilling, consultants and gas-gathering pipelines. The estimate was reduced from Tk632 crore after a project evaluation meeting in June recommended rationalising costs.
