The Bangladesh Jewellers Association reduced the price of 22-carat gold jewellery by Tk1,691 per bhori on 22 October, setting the new rate at Tk226,340 including VAT. A bhori is 11.664 grammes, and the revised prices took effect at 10am.

BAJUS said the adjustment followed a fall in local pure-gold prices. Its pricing and price-monitoring committee decided the changes at a meeting on Thursday, then announced them in a notification.

Under the revised schedule, 21-carat gold jewellery costs Tk216,192 per bhori, a reduction of Tk1,575. The 18-carat rate fell by Tk1,341 to Tk185,691, while traditional-method gold fell by Tk1,108 to Tk151,690 per bhori. The published rates include VAT.

The association had last cut the 22-carat price on 13 October, when it fell by Tk3,266 to Tk228,031 per bhori. The two reductions therefore total Tk4,957.

Silver jewellery prices also fell. The new 22-carat silver rate is Tk4,024 per bhori including VAT, down Tk175.
