From 18 October 2026 — Daily Brief

Customs houses and stations across Bangladesh have been asked to keep import and export services running on a limited scale during the Durga Puja holidays from 20 to 22 October.

The National Board of Revenue issued the instruction in a letter dated 15 October, details of which were published on Saturday. It asks the relevant authorities to arrange the staff and services needed to avoid interruptions to trade.

The instruction covers eight customs houses and 16 customs, excise and VAT commissionerates. Locations named include Dhaka, Chattogram, Benapole, Mongla, Pangaon and Bhomra.

The revenue board also asked Bangladesh Bank to inform commercial banks and requested business organisations, including the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the garment exporters’ association, to notify their members.

The three festival holidays are followed by the regular Friday–Saturday weekend, creating a five-day public holiday period ending on 24 October. The customs instruction specifically provides for limited operations on 20–22 October; it does not announce normal hours for every port, bank or transport service throughout the break.
