Dhaka shares fall as turnover drops to Tk453 crore

The DSEX fell about 46 points to 5,404 on 12 October, while turnover dropped to Tk453 crore. Declining securities substantially outnumbered gainers. From 13 October 2026 — Daily Brief

Dhaka shares extended their decline on 12 October, with the benchmark DSEX losing about 46 points, or 0.85%, to close at 5,404.

Trading turnover fell to Tk453 crore from Tk566 crore in the previous session, a reduction of roughly one-fifth. The Business Standard’s market report recorded 303 declining securities, compared with 47 gainers and 35 unchanged issues.

Textiles accounted for the largest share of turnover. Financial institutions and mutual funds were among the weaker sectors, while the broader market also declined in Chattogram.

Market participants cited gas and electricity shortages, higher operating costs and concerns about company earnings. EBL Securities also pointed to persistent domestic challenges and geopolitical uncertainty in its commentary.

The index movement and turnover are reported market results; explanations of investor sentiment are attributed assessments. The session’s losses do not establish how particular shares will perform next or amount to a recommendation to buy or sell.
