Jamuna fertiliser plant halts again two days after restart

Jamuna Fertilizer Factory in Sarishabari, Jamalpur, stopped production again on 7 October after a boiler fault, only two days after operations resumed.
A production department official confirmed the breakdown and said the rest of the plant’s equipment was functioning. Technical staff expected to repair the boiler, although no completed restart was confirmed in the report.
The plant had faced extended interruptions because of natural-gas shortages and technical difficulties. It restarted after gas supplies returned, producing about 1,600 tonnes of fertiliser during its brief operating period.
The factory serves northern agricultural districts through a large network of dealers. Continued disruption could increase reliance on other domestic suppliers or imports during periods of strong demand.
The latest shutdown illustrates how restoring fuel supplies alone cannot guarantee reliable industrial output when ageing machinery and maintenance needs remain unresolved.
