Three suspected measles deaths bring combined reported toll to 1,125
Bangladesh reported three more suspected measles deaths in its 4 October bulletin, bringing the combined confirmed and suspected toll to 1,125. The total includes 102 confirmed deaths and 1,023 suspected deaths. Authorities also recorded 1,218 patients presenting with symptoms and 82 newly confirmed infections.

Three people died with suspected measles symptoms in the 24 hours ending on the morning of 4 October, taking Bangladesh’s combined reported toll from confirmed and suspected measles to 1,125.
The Directorate General of Health Services classified all three new deaths as suspected cases. Two occurred in Dhaka division and one in Rangpur. No additional laboratory-confirmed measles death was reported during the period.
The cumulative toll comprises 1,023 suspected deaths and 102 confirmed deaths. Keeping those categories separate is essential: the combined figure does not mean measles was confirmed in every person who died.
The latest bulletin recorded 1,218 patients presenting with suspected symptoms, of whom 1,122 were admitted to hospital. It also reported 82 newly confirmed infections.
Since monitoring began on 15 March, health authorities have recorded 196,418 suspected cases and 21,748 confirmed infections. Hospital admissions over that period reached 174,149, with 166,908 patients reported to have recovered and returned home.
Dhaka has recorded the largest cumulative number of suspected deaths, at 465, followed by Sylhet with 179. The hospital-based figures do not capture every infection: not all patients presenting with symptoms undergo measles testing.
