Bangladesh reported six dengue deaths and 2,089 hospital admissions in the 24 hours covered by the 4 October bulletin. The annual death toll reached 262. Health authorities reported 5,849 patients still receiving hospital treatment, while cumulative admissions this year rose to 86,458.

Bangladesh reported six more dengue deaths and 2,089 hospital admissions in the 24 hours ending on the morning of 4 October, taking the year’s reported death toll to 262.
The Directorate General of Health Services recorded three of the latest deaths in Khulna division, two in Dhaka South City Corporation and one in Mymensingh division.
Hospitals in Dhaka division outside the capital’s two city corporations admitted 514 patients. Khulna recorded 330 admissions, Chattogram 324 and Rajshahi 224. Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations recorded 106 and 196 respectively.
The bulletin also recorded 1,865 patients leaving hospital after treatment. A total of 5,849 people remained hospitalised, while cumulative admissions since January reached 86,458.
The latest daily admissions figure was 481 higher than the 1,608 reported in the previous bulletin. It follows a September in which health authorities recorded 43,774 admissions and 148 deaths, the highest monthly totals reported so far this year.
These figures track patients reported by hospitals, rather than every dengue infection in the community. The new bulletin shows continuing pressure on treatment facilities as arrivals outnumber discharges and thousands of patients remain under care.
