V&A strikes paused while unions consider an improved offer

Unions suspended planned walkouts at four V&A sites on 29 and 30 October while talks continue through Acas. The pause follows an improved offer but does not settle the dispute over pay and working conditions or confirm that an agreement has been reached.

Planned strikes at four Victoria and Albert Museum sites have been suspended while unions and management continue negotiations over pay and conditions.

PCS and Prospect paused action scheduled for 29 and 30 October after an improved offer. Talks are being conducted through the conciliation service Acas.

The dispute covers the South Kensington museum, V&A East Museum, V&A East Storehouse and Young V&A. Concerns raised by staff include pay and workplace conditions.

The suspension removes the immediate prospect of those two days of industrial action. It does not mean members have accepted a final settlement or that the wider dispute has ended.

Details of the revised offer were not made public in the announcement of the pause. Earlier published pay figures should therefore not be treated as the terms now under discussion.

The next step is for negotiations to establish whether the offer can produce an agreement acceptable to staff and management.
