Gold jewellery prices fall by Tk3,266 per bhori

BAJUS has reduced the VAT-inclusive price of 22-carat gold jewellery to Tk228,031 per bhori, effective from 10am on 13 October. Other gold grades also became cheaper. Making charges remain separate, so the listed gold rate is not necessarily the final jewellery bill.

From 14 October 2026 — Daily Brief

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association has reduced the price of 22-carat gold jewellery by Tk3,266 per bhori, setting the VAT-inclusive rate at Tk228,031.

The revised prices took effect at 10am on 13 October. One bhori is equivalent to 11.664 grams.

The association linked the reduction to a decline in the local price of pure gold. Its pricing and price-monitoring committee approved the changes and issued a notification.

The new VAT-inclusive rate for 21-carat gold is Tk217,767 per bhori. Eighteen-carat jewellery is priced at Tk187,032, while gold made using the traditional method is Tk152,798.

The adjustment reverses part of an increase announced four days earlier. On 9 October, the 22-carat rate had risen by Tk2,216 to Tk231,297 per bhori.

Jewellery-making charges are additional and depend on the design and work involved. The published rate should therefore be distinguished from the total amount charged for a finished piece.

The decision is a current domestic pricing update rather than a forecast for the international gold market. Subsequent association notices could change the rates again.
