Jet fuel price jumps 10.3% to Tk182.71 a litre

Bangladesh’s aviation regulator raised domestic Jet A-1 fuel to Tk182.71 per litre for October, 10.3% above September. The international-flight rate also rose to $1.1882 per litre before duties and VAT.

From 8 October 2026 — Daily Brief

Bangladesh has raised the regulated price of jet fuel by about 10.3% for October, increasing cost pressure on domestic and international airlines.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission set Jet A-1 fuel for domestic flights at Tk 182.71 per litre, up Tk 17.06 from Tk 165.65 in September. The duty- and VAT-free rate for international flights rose to $1.1882 per litre from $1.0770.

The new prices take effect from midnight at the start of 8 October. The regulator said the adjustment reflects international Jet A-1 benchmark prices and the exchange rate used by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation for import settlements.

The increase extends a sharp recovery in aviation-fuel costs after prices fell to Tk 130.99 per litre in July. The domestic rate has now risen nearly 40% from that level over three months, although it remains below the peak reached earlier in the year.

Fuel is one of airlines’ largest operating expenses. Sustained increases can put pressure on fares, route economics and profitability, particularly for domestic carriers with limited ability to absorb higher costs.
