Nearly 175,000 tonnes of American wheat have reached Chattogram as part of Bangladesh’s latest purchase of 220,000 tonnes, the US Embassy in Dhaka said on 21 October.
The disclosed arrivals represent roughly four-fifths of that purchase. About 45,000 tonnes remained outside the arrival total reported by the embassy, which did not give a timetable for the balance.
The embassy described the wheat supply as support for Bangladesh’s food security and the trading relationship between the two countries. The update concerned wheat already delivered to the port, rather than the signing of a new procurement agreement.
