Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi has said his mission is examining difficulties faced by Bangladeshi visa applicants, with particular attention to patients seeking medical treatment.

He gave the assurance during a meeting with the Indian Media Correspondents Association, Bangladesh, at the high commission in Dhaka’s Baridhara on 22 October.

Delegates raised the delay between submitting an online visa application and obtaining an appointment to submit documents in person. Trivedi said the mission was trying to understand the reasons for those delays and expressed hope that the problem would ease soon.

He also said efforts were being made to help patients obtain visas more easily. The reported remarks did not set out a new application procedure, a deadline for clearing appointments or a date when wider changes would take effect.

The delegation was led by association president Shaheen Chowdhury and included general secretary Masum Billah and members of its executive committee.
