September remittances rise year on year as monthly inflows ease
September brought about $2.77 billion through formal channels, while July–September remittances were 13.3% above a year earlier.
Bangladesh received about US$2.77 billion in remittances in September 2026, roughly 3% more than a year earlier, according to Bangladesh Bank figures reported by The Daily Star, Daily Sun and The Daily Observer.
The month brought in US$2.766 billion, The Daily Observer reported. September receipts were lower than August’s roughly US$2.97 billion. The figures therefore show two different movements: growth compared with September last year, but a decline from the previous month.
For July–September, the opening quarter of the 2026–27 financial year, remittances totalled about US$8.59 billion. That was 13.3% above the corresponding quarter a year earlier, the three outlets reported.
The monthly slowdown should be read alongside that stronger quarterly comparison. These figures describe money recorded through formal channels; they do not measure every transfer to Bangladesh.
