Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called for stronger regional cooperation as he opened the fifth Bay of Bengal Conversation in Dhaka on 3 October 2026, according to reports by BSS and UNB carried by The Business Standard.
He identified trade, energy, technology, climate and maritime affairs as areas where countries could work more closely. His remarks set out policy priorities rather than announcing a signed regional agreement.
Organised by the Centre for Governance Studies, the conference runs from 3 to 5 October at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The reports put attendance at around 200 speakers, more than 300 delegates and over 1,000 participants from over 100 countries.
