From 6 October 2026 — Daily Brief

Bangladesh received $8.979 billion in remittances between 1 July and 4 October, up 16.2 per cent from the same period a year earlier, according to Bangladesh Bank figures reported on Monday.

The comparable total in the previous financial year was $7.726 billion. The increase was about $1.253 billion, reflecting a higher flow of money sent home through the banking system during the period.

Receipts during the first four days of October reached $388 million, compared with $141 million in the corresponding days last year. That represented growth of approximately 175 per cent, although the comparison covers only a short part of the month.

Banks received $181 million on 4 October alone. The daily figure forms part of the four-day October total and should not be added to it again.

The figures provide an early indication of October’s inflows alongside the broader financial-year comparison. They do not establish what the full month’s receipts will be, since subsequent daily transfers will change the total.

Remittances are an important source of foreign currency and household income. The latest update shows stronger recorded inflows, while the next monthly figures will provide a fuller measure of whether that pace is sustained.
