Dhaka stocks finished lower on 25 October as investors returned from the holiday break, with both the main index and trading turnover declining.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange’s benchmark DSEX lost about 18 points to close at roughly 5,432. The blue-chip DS30 index also edged down.

Turnover fell by around 14 per cent from the previous session to approximately Tk431 crore. Market breadth was weak: 283 securities declined, 64 advanced and 38 were unchanged.

Some banking shares gained despite the broader fall. Brokerage commentary linked the subdued session to selling pressure and a shortage of fresh positive drivers, but those explanations are market assessments rather than a measurable cause for every transaction.

The figures describe Sunday’s trading session and do not predict how prices will move when the market next opens.
