Mohammad Salahuddin has been brought in as Bangladesh’s interim batting coach after the Bangladesh Cricket Board reassigned Mohammad Ashraful to other duties.
The board announced the change late on 24 October. Speaking to the media the following day, Ashraful said he had been informed that evening and would be told when other work was available during the remaining period of his contract.
Ashraful said his contract allowed the board to use him in a different role. He also defended the Test team’s performance during his tenure, while acknowledging the disappointing one-day results.
The change comes shortly before Bangladesh’s Test against West Indies in Mirpur, scheduled to begin on 28 October.
Salahuddin’s appointment is an interim arrangement. It should not be read as confirmation of a permanent replacement or the termination of Ashraful’s entire contract.
