Bangladeshi textile and garment producers began displaying their products at the Barcelona Textile Expo on 21 October, seeking new European buyers and closer links with fashion brands and retailers.

The three-day exhibition at Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc runs through 23 October. Bangladesh’s participation is supported financially by the Export Promotion Bureau and organised with the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid. Ambassador Masudur Rahman opened the country’s pavilion on Wednesday morning, according to an announcement about the event.

Exhibitors are showing woven and knitted fabrics, readymade garments, home textiles, yarn and fashion accessories. The EPB also has a stall offering publications and information about Bangladesh’s export sectors. The fair’s organisers list more than 300 exhibitors from 12 countries.

The programme includes a seminar led by fashion consultancy Peclers Paris on using artificial intelligence to understand trends. Meetings with wholesalers, designers and retail buyers are intended to help suppliers find commercial partners and understand demand.
