Three Bangladeshis who escaped a scam compound in Myanmar and took shelter in Thailand are scheduled to return to Dhaka on 22 October.

They are due to arrive at 4:20pm on US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-218.

Anirban Survivor Voice Foundation sought assistance from the Wage Earners' Welfare Board on 24 August after receiving complaints from the workers and their families. The board then instructed the labour wing of Bangladesh's embassy in Bangkok to arrange the release and return of eight Bangladeshis staying in a safe house under Thailand's Mae Sot immigration authorities.

Three are covered by the announced travel arrangements. Legal procedures are continuing for the other five.

According to the foundation, members of the group initially travelled to Cambodia and Laos for work before traffickers offered them better jobs in Thailand. One survivor alleged that they were subsequently forced across the Myanmar border and made to carry out online fraud.
