Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed a joint review of Dhaka’s Inner Circular Road project to speed up construction. At a 4 October meeting, he asked the responsible agencies to remove obstacles, improve coordination and set a realistic timetable. A revised completion date was not announced.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered a review of Dhaka’s Inner Circular Road project and faster construction, seeking to unblock work intended to ease congestion in the capital.
At a progress meeting at the Secretariat on 4 October, he asked the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and the Local Government Division to examine the existing plan together. The two bodies were told to identify implementation obstacles, improve coordination and set a realistic completion timetable.
The instructions were described by the prime minister’s deputy press secretary, Hasan Shiplu. Accounts carried by BSS, The Daily Star and Dhaka Tribune consistently report the review and call for quicker progress, drawing on the official briefing.
Tarique also asked the agencies to deliver visible progress as soon as possible. The published account did not give a revised completion date or announce an additional funding allocation.
The meeting brought together ministers, officials and representatives of Dhaka’s two city corporations. Its immediate outcome is a direction to review the plan and accelerate implementation. A revised schedule would provide a clearer basis for assessing when the intended traffic benefits could become available.
