Dengue admissions pass 100,000 as four more deaths are reported

Health authorities reported four more dengue deaths and 2,167 hospital admissions in the latest 24-hour period. The 2026 totals reached 307 deaths and 101,442 recorded cases. These are figures reported through health surveillance, not an estimate of every infection in the population.

Two suspected measles deaths added as outbreak reporting continues

Two children died with suspected measles in the latest reporting period. DGHS recorded 1,269 suspected and 152 confirmed cases. Since 15 March, the combined death count is 1,164, comprising 1,060 suspected and 104 confirmed deaths—not 1,164 laboratory-confirmed measles fatalities.

Saline shortages expose strain between regulated prices and production costs

Patients are struggling to obtain intravenous saline as manufacturers report reduced production and higher input costs. Industry representatives say producing a bag can cost around Tk120 against a regulated Tk87 retail price. A price-review proposal remains with the health ministry.
