Bangladesh’s foreign ministry has confirmed that a Bangladeshi national died in an attack on an Aramco facility in Saudi Arabia, and said the embassy is arranging assistance and the return of his body.

The ministry identified him as Md Sajib Hossain, from Cumilla. Its statement, issued on 5 October, said he was killed the previous day in the Al Khurais area of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

According to the ministry, the attack involved a missile or drone launched by the Houthis. That attribution comes from the ministry’s account; the reports did not establish independently which weapon struck the facility.

Bangladesh condemned the attack and expressed condolences to Sajib’s family. The embassy in Saudi Arabia has contacted both his relatives and his employer and is providing assistance, the statement said.

Diplomats are coordinating with the Saudi authorities to complete the necessary formalities and repatriate the body. No date for its return was announced in the statement.

The announcement confirms the identity of a Bangladeshi casualty and the consular steps under way. It does not establish a wider casualty total or the full extent of damage at the facility.
