From 5 October 2026 — Daily Brief

Three deputy inspectors general have been reassigned in a police reshuffle announced by the Home Ministry on 4 October, with two moving to the Police Staff College and another to the Mass Rapid Transit police unit.

Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan, serving in the Special Response Unit, and Special Branch officer Mahmudur Rahman were posted to the college. Criminal Investigation Department officer Hasan Bari Noor was assigned to the metro-rail police unit. These three changes are consistently reported across the accounts reviewed.

Published reports differ on the overall scale. Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and Jago News put the total at 24 officers, while The Daily Star reports 96. Bengal Brief could not independently reconcile those totals. The discrepancy does not affect the three deputy inspector general assignments described above.

The changes were announced through three Home Ministry notifications. The Daily Star reported that the orders took immediate effect, while BSS said officers had been instructed to join their new stations as soon as possible.

The reshuffle also affects officers serving in metropolitan forces, training establishments and specialist units. Reports describe transfers and new postings; they do not establish disciplinary findings against the officers named.
