Report highlights gap in Supreme Court asset-disclosure rules

A Daily Star report published on 3 October 2026 says Bangladesh has not introduced a binding mechanism for Supreme Court judges to publish asset declarations, despite a Judiciary Reform Commission recommendation.
Transparency International Bangladesh urged annual disclosure to strengthen accountability. Lawyers quoted in the report also raised privacy and security considerations. This is a debate about disclosure rules, not a finding of wrongdoing by individual judges.
