Law minister outlines digital marriage and divorce registration

Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman said an integrated marriage and divorce database would make records easier to verify, including from abroad. He spoke at the opening of a ten-day training programme for nikah registrars in Dhaka on 3 October 2026, BSS reported.

He said the system could help monitor marriage registrations, identify child marriages and assess enforcement of marriage laws. The remarks described the intended benefits of digital registration.
