The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission has asked the Dhaka Stock Exchange to make its investigations more purposeful and grounded in specific evidence.
At a meeting on 25 October, the regulator expressed concern that indiscriminate requests for information could unsettle investors without producing useful findings. Officials discussed using surveillance data more effectively to identify suspicious activity before seeking detailed information.
DSE director Minhaz Mannan said the exchange shared the regulator’s concern and would take steps in response. The discussion also emphasised avoiding unnecessary harassment of investors.
The advice concerns investigative methods and the quality of evidence. It does not amount to an instruction to stop monitoring the market or abandon cases involving manipulation.
Enforcement and supervision are to continue, with attention to specific suspected breaches rather than broad inquiries that lack a clear purpose.
